Classroom Rights - Display This Simple "Bill of Rights" In A Prominent Place

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to sum up a productive and respectful tone in your classroom, the following Classroom "Bill of Rights" will be useful.

I post this statement in bold print right on the front of my overhead projector, on the side that faces the students. That way, the rights are ingrained in their minds as the presiding law of the land.

So, even if my students are zoning out instead of paying attention to the material at hand, at least these boldfaced tenets are soaking into their brains and becoming the classroom norm for behavior.

1. I have the right to teach.
2. You have the right to learn.
3. No one will interfere with these rights.
